The Kanaki Movement System
Overview
The two principal elements of KS are structure and improvisation. Structure provides the foundation while improvisation and new combinations of movements engage and stimulate the brain.
KS makes use of the physical body to enhance the brain through imitation of unusual movements of certain animals or asymmetrical dance movements. The body-brain connection that is established prevents memory loss and boosts attention and retention of information.
The aim of KS is to change the harmful habits to which every body is prone, in part or in whole, depending on the needs and characteristics of the individual participant.
KS embraces the task of teaching the body new and positive habits, such as stretching, emphasizing good posture, and tensing and relaxing muscles and organs.
The System’s Psychology
The system’s psychology teaches participants how to trigger positive emotions through movement and how to imprint those emotions on the mind and the brain.
KS is unique because it works simultaneously in two directions – from the inside out, and from the outside in. From the inside, it increases energy and the accuracy of the five senses. From the outside, it increases blood flow to all the muscles and thus brings emotional relief.
The system connects the psychological and the physical so they can act together and interact. The map of one physical body differs from the map of another physical body, in the same way the psychology of one mind is different from that of another. Neither the physical dimension of a person nor the person’s psychological dimension can be treated in a vacuum.
KS provides an assessment to develop a customized set of exercises for each individual to strengthen parts of the body and mind, which hunger for more substance, and to link the body and mind so that they will be able to work together harmoniously to create the necessary substance.
